Banksy in Brooklyn
In case you didn't know, Banksy is loose on the streets of New York this October. This little mural popped up in Brooklyn on Kings St. and Vant Brunt as part of the guerilla artist's "Better Out Than In" project. The heart-shaped balloon stencil is a follow-up to his iconic "Girl With Balloon" work. Also, be sure to check out StreetArtNews' 57 second YouTube analysis of this work in the video below. It's fucking brilliant. via SAN

Israel "Reefa" Hernandez Tribute Art
Some of the art popping up in tribute to Israel Hernandez isn't what you'd consider "P.C." but it's an emotional time - and when you see so little justice being doled out these days what we're seeing should come as no surprise. Very sad that it's come to this.

Called "The Struggle Of Nations," a "cabellors y indios" theme is depicted in a vintage newsprint/comic book style and would appear to be calling attention to the mass murder and genocides commited by "civilized" nations of the west perpetrated against the indigenous peoples of the New World - a matter of history that looms large in the collective conscious of these western nations. Hence, the struggle. It should also be noted that many of the indigenous tribes and peoples of the Americas were regionally and collectively...

Puerto Rico’s Iguana and the Coquí Mural By Roa
Belgian artist Roa took to Calle Lloveras in San Juan, Puerto Rico for last fall's Los Muros Hablan Festival to produce this magnificent work of an Iguana gripping (perhaps strangulating) a small frog. The frog is a Coquí, a small native amphibian to the island. Meanwhile, Iguanas, which are not native to Puerto Rico, have been creating a lot of problems as they have taken their toll on the economy and the environment. Seek and destroy missions have been formed as a result. A powerful eco-political statement by Roa to be sure. via SAN
