Cut Copy's "Let Me Show You," a first listen on vinyl

Here's one innovative way to release your new single: limited-edition personalized & numbered vinyl produced on-site at the 2013 Pitchfork Chicago Music Festival. The new single "Let Me Show You" by Australia's electronic group Cut Copy sounds, as The Fader's Jessica Robertson so aptly put is, like "a warm return to a tried-and-true retro daze." This easily sounds like it could be the intro music to some TV drama or movie circa 1982 - so releasing the single on vinyl borders on genius. via Fdr

From the Basement | Andrea True Connection's More, More, More

In honor of The Sundance Channel's airing of the tremendous 2005 doc from Imagine Entertainment & HBO Documentary Films, Inside Deep Throat - a film which details the odd, groundbreaking and oftentimes tragic stories surrounding the 1972 film Deep Throat and it's beleaguered star Linda Lovelace - this month, we dig up out of the basement archives the ultimate 1970s porn soundtrack anthem: Andrea True Connection's unlikely billboard hit "More, More, More." Reggie Watts covers Van Halen's "Panama"

"Jump back, what’s that sound? Oh, it’s just Reggie Watts covering Van Halen‘s 1984 cock rock anthem, Panama, in a crazy-ass golf sweater. Carry on. On the invitation of The Onion’s AV Club, the musical comedian procured an early demo from the band, and used it as the inspiration for this performance, an unrecognizable fugue of live looped vocals." It was a good try. via OC

Questlove's appearance on "The Daily Show"

Earlier this week Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson of The Roots appeared on the "The Daily Show" to promote his new book/memoir Mo' Meta Blues. Though short (at roughly 5.5 minutes) in length the interview yielded a fascinating discussion which touches upon Questlove's traumatic experience involving his favorite show "Soul Train" and the modulated bridge of Freddy's Dead off of the Superfly soundtrack and what he considers to be the most influential moment in the history of hip-hop. It's good stuff.
